Fenty Beauty has done it again.
Since the brand’s initial release in early September, Fenty has been coming for the other brands at Sephora by dropping several releases of diverse, high-quality products that are aesthetically unique.
Rhianna is known for wearing a classic red lip, so naturally the first liquid lipstick by Fenty Beauty, the Stunna Lip Paint ($30) is a bold crimson shade. As of now, it is the only colour that has been released. The lip paint was apparently made with the intention of creating universal shade that looks flattering on every skin tone. This sense of inclusiveness has become a core part of Fenty’s branding.
The packing of this liquid lipstick is quite unique and looks expensive. The shape of the bottle reminds me of Christian Louboutin nail polish which has a pointed lid and edged glass component. At first glance, I thought that the lipstick looked like it didn’t have a lot of product in it, but as it turns out, it is actually 0.2 oz more than a conventional liquid lipstick tube.
The design of the packaging isn’t the only part of this product that is innovative. The applicator itself has an interesting rounded shape that differs from a typical doe-foot end. Despite the brush feeling so soft, it still creates a perfect, sharp edge. The round applicator does an amazing job at creating the perfect shape around the cupids bow. All you have to do is stamp two little dots at the curve of your lip, and then proceed to fill in the rest of your top lip. The colour applies evenly, and is very thin so it doesn’t feel like there is anything on your lips.
This liquid lipstick is supposed to last 12 hours – which frankly, in my opinion is a ridiculous claim to make for any brand. That being said, I challenged myself to see how long I could wear it for. The formula does dry down into a nice, smooth, matte that is quite comfortable on the lips. It doesn’t sink into the creases of the lips until you have already been wearing it for several hours.
This product is not transfer proof. If you dab your lips with your finger, a little bit comes off, but it does not noticeably remove a patch of the product as it would with cream lipstick. I did eat and drink with this on, and it managed to survive and still look good afterward. I touched it up a little bit after my meal and continued to wear it throughout the day. To my surprise, this product actually layers quite well. I was able to get trough five hours of wear before I had to take it off – for me that is a long time.
I am a huge fan of red lips and this is my new favourite. I think that the Stunna Lip Paint can create so many looks – both bold and classic. The packaging is luxurious, the formula is comfortable, and the shade is perfect. If you are a fan of red lipstick, this is the perfect product to put on your holiday wish list.
