SPF So Good, You’ll Actually Want to Reapply It

There are two things that everyone always wakes up with after the long weekend – a hangover and a sunburn.

Backyard barbecues, beach days and brunches are all fun and games until you remember that sun exposure can cause serious damage to your skin. What is more alarming is how easy it is to get a burn, even if it isn’t a particularly hot and sunny day.

We all know that sunscreen is only good for so long before reapplication is needed to keep your skin protected. As the sunscreen comes off your skin from sweat, water, and wear, it becomes necessary to put more on. There is a common misconception that the ingredients actually break down in the sun and that is when you have to apply it again. Even if you have been inside for two hours, the sunscreen won’t be effective anymore.

To make sunscreen feel like less of a chore, all you have to do is choose the right products.

For Your Body

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Weightless Sunscreen SPF 30 ($12)

I absolutely hate the slimy feeling that sunscreen leaves behind on your skin. More than that, I just hate the smell of sunscreen. This product solves both of those issues. It feels like a moisturizer and smells like a tropical paradise.  This sunscreen makes your skin feel extremely soft and gives it a nice glow. It rubs in easily without any white cast.

For Your Face

Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30 ($28)

If you have acne-prone skin, you are probably familiar with the fear of putting sunscreen on your face. It normally results in a bunch of tiny whiteheads popping up from clogged pores. This is perfect for sensitive skin, and it works quite well under makeup. It has a matte finish so you don’t have to worry about looking excessively shiny throughout the day. My only complaint is that is smells so strong when you first apply it, but thankfully it becomes less noticeable after a few minutes.

After Sun

Hawaiian Tropic Lime Coolada After Sun Moisturizer ($7)

I have gone through three bottles of this product. I always end up using it as a normal moisturizer – even in the winter – because it repairs dry skin so well. It is perfect for after a day in the sun. If you do end up with a sunburn this weekend, it is very soothing because it contains cocoa butter, vitamins A & E, and aloe extracts.
