My skincare routine for combo, acne-prone, sensitive, and overall problematic skin.
Every year as the weather begins to change, so does my skin. My face starts producing a crazy amount of oil in response to the slightly warmer weather. Suddenly my super hydrating winter routine only intensifies my oil problem, which results in, yup – acne.
For a few weeks now I have switched up my routine and have absolutely fallen in love with these products.
Garnier Skin Active Micellar All-in-One Cleansing Water ($8)
At the end of the day, I always start by removing all of my makeup with this micellar water on a cotton pad. I use this all over my face – not just my eyes – to help make sure I actually get all of the foundation off of my skin. This product is a dupe for the Bioderma product. It is one-third of the price and just as good.
Ole Henriksen Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser ($30)
This product is a non-foaming cleanser that has an invigorating feeling during use. It contains Irish moss extracts which help to absorb excess oil. Within a week of using this product, I had already noticed my makeup was lasting better throughout the day and that I was experiencing fewer breakouts than usual. This is a high-performance product that doesn’t leave your skin feeling completely raw after use.
Ole Henriksen Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub ($34)
This is the best thing I have ever put on my face. I don’t think I really knew what clean felt like until I got my hands on this product. When you apply it on your face, it has an incredible warmth that is supposed to be inspired by Scandinavian spas. This is a physical exfoliant which contains very fine volcanic sand. It doesn’t feel too harsh on the skin, but somehow leaves it feeling baby smooth. I use this scrub once every couple of days, and each time I end up letting it sit on my skin for a few minutes before rinsing because it feels so nice.
Simple Kind to Skin Facial Toner ($8)
I have been using this product since high school and it never lets me down. It is alcohol-free, so it is able to balance out the pH levels of your skin without the horrible drying feeling that some toners leave behind. If you were wearing a lot of makeup during the day, this is also a great step to make sure that there is absolutely nothing left in your pores.
Indeed Labs Mineral Booster ($22)
This product is intended to combat daily stresses that your skin experiences like lack of sleep, too much sugar, and UV rays. Made up of minerals like zinc, copper, and magnesium, this boosts the oxygen in your complexion to detox your skin. I apply this product in the morning before moisturizer.
Indeed Labs Retinol Reface ($18)
Retinol is traditionally thought to be for mature skin because it helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. It is also amazing for people who suffer from acne scarring. It speeds up the natural peeling process of skin and helps to generate new cells. Although it sounds odd, I honestly find that my skin feels extra hydrated after using this. I apply this product at night before moisturizer.
Indeed Labs 10balm ($18)
My skin requires hydration to heal past breakouts, yet it needs something that will control oil without drying out my skin. This product is called 10balm because it is made up of 10 soothing ingredients including Arnica, bee pollen and vitamin E. To be honest I don’t think it is intended to be an all-over face product but it is the perfect thing for my skin.
