Travel Bag Essentials

Every time I go on vacation I wait until the very last minute to pack. Every. Single. Time. The only thing that I procrastinate more than packing is unpacking. That being said, I have finally mastered what I actually need to bring with me, instead of overpacking. Here are my carry-on essentials – perfect for any flight.

  1. Passport – Duh.
  2. Reading Material – On this particular trip, I packed a magazine. I’m only going to Montreal so the flight is super short. For longer flights a book is the best choice, just in case the movie options on the flight aren’t up to par.
  3. Notebook – I write everything down. I have endless lists of songs I love, things to remember, thoughts I have. On vacations, I always find myself journaling (something I don’t do in my day-to-day life) because I love the feeling of being in a new place.
  4. Headphones – Set yourself up with a travel playlist that suits your destination, and get yourself in the right mindset for your trip. Headphones are also ideal to drown out any crying babies that you may encounter.
  5. Portable Charger – Trying to fight for a spot at the airport charging station is not on my travel agenda. This charger by Mophie has saved my life a thousand times.
  6. Hand Lotion – Airplanes are so incredibly dry. My favourite cream by Hand Chemistry is small, doesn’t have a strong smell, and saves you from that uncomfortable dry-hand feeling.
  7. Chapstick – Again…so dry. My go-to is Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue – it has a minty, cool feeling on the lips that lasts for hours.
  8. Deodorant – There is something about traveling on a stuffed up plane, sharing germs with hundreds of people that makes me feel so gross. I love to freshen up with some Dove deodorant.
  9. Perfume – If I feel extra gross, I will roll on some Candy by Prada.
  10. Toothbrush/toothpaste – So fresh and so clean x3. Travel toothbrushes are also potentially the best invention in the world. I have started carrying this with me on a daily basis.
  11. Advil – Change in air pressure, cabin dryness, and busy airports always leave me with a headache. No one wants that ruining their trip.
  12. Gum – This is a necessity for taking off and landing. Ear popping? No thank you.
  13. Warm Socks – Airplanes get so cold, but in the summertime I am not prepared to bring a full parka with me so I can be comfortable on the plane. Warm socks are a comfy option, that is reasonable to pack.
  14. Sunglasses – Just bring these everywhere, always.
  15. Camera – Of course on your trip you want to document all of your amazing memories. I don’t use my Instax camera often, but when I do, it is probably when I am traveling.
